Thermal Scope Categories
Entry-level thermal scopes (384x288 resolution): Good for close to medium-range hog and coyote hunting under 150 yards.
Mid-tier thermal scopes (640x512 resolution): Extended detection range and sharper image quality. Ideal for 200 to 400-yard shots.
Premium thermal scopes (1280x1024 or higher): Maximum detection and recognition range, best image clarity.
Long-range thermal scopes: Specialized units with higher-magnification objective lenses for 500+ yard engagement.
384x288 is sufficient for most hog hunting under 150 yards. 640x512 is preferred for 200 to 400-yard shots. 1280x1024 and higher resolutions offer the best target recognition at distance.
Do thermal scopes work in daylight?
Yes. Thermal scopes detect heat signature regardless of ambient light, so they work in complete darkness, bright sunlight, fog, rain, and smoke.
Are thermal scopes legal for hunting?
Legal for hog and coyote hunting in most US states, though regulations vary. Always check your state and local regulations before use.
