The APEX series is Humminbird's premium multifunction display platform, designed for tournament bass anglers, offshore sportfishermen, and serious boaters who need maximum screen real estate and the full Humminbird sonar suite. The 13" IPS display is solar-readable, daylight-bright at 1500 nits, and uses capacitive touchscreen for smartphone-like multi-touch operation. This is the Control Head Only (CHO) version, no transducer included. For anglers with existing MEGA-capable transducers, networked multi-unit rigs, or boats already plumbed with transducer wiring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Display Only vs full unit, what's included?

This is the Control Head Only (CHO), the display unit and mounting hardware without a transducer. Choose CHO when you already have a compatible MEGA-capable transducer (XM 14 HW MSI T or similar), or when networking with another APEX/SOLIX that has the transducer connected.

Is MEGA Live 2 supported?

Yes, with firmware v5.060 or later. The MEGA Live 2 transducer is sold separately. APEX is the most capable platform for MEGA Live 2 because of the larger screen real estate.

What transducer do I need?

CHO requires a separately purchased MEGA-capable transducer. For permanent transom mount: XM 14 HW MSI T. For trolling motor mount: XNT 9 HW MSI 150 T or similar. Verify compatibility before ordering.

How does APEX compare to XPLORE?

APEX is the larger-screen, more powerful platform built for permanent helm installation, especially on bigger boats. XPLORE is the newer-generation platform with the same sonar capabilities but in smaller 9", 10", and 12" sizes optimized for bass boats and skiffs. APEX 13/16/19 sizes are for center consoles, walkaround boats, and yachts where the bigger screen is justified.

Networking with other Humminbird units?

Yes via Ethernet. APEX networks with other APEX, SOLIX, and HELIX units to share sonar data, charts, and waypoints across the boat. One-Boat Network lets it talk to Minn Kota Quest/Ultrex trolling motors for spot lock and follow-the-contour navigation.
