Do I need a handheld Alpha too?
Most hunters running an Alpha XL also carry a handheld Alpha (200, 200i, 300, or 300i) for when they leave the vehicle. The XL stays in the truck; the handheld goes in the field.
Will the magnetic antenna scratch my truck?
The base is rubber-padded to protect paint. It mounts via strong magnets to any steel surface (typically the truck roof or hood). Removable in seconds for transport or storage.
Does the Alpha XL include the VHF dock?
The Alpha XL ships with the magnetic antenna setup. The optional VHF Dock (sold separately) provides a hardwired vehicle dock with built-in antenna connection — preferred for permanent vehicle installations.
