Where This Fits in the ECHOMAP UHD2 Series

The 9" sv tier is the top of the ECHOMAP UHD2 lineup — bigger screen real estate, higher resolution (1024 × 600 vs 800 × 480 on 7"), and the premium GT56UHD-TM transducer that adds a third frequency (1000 kHz) over the GT54UHD that ships with the 7" sv.

  • 5" cv ($399-$499) — Keyed-only, no networking
  • 6" sv ($849-$949) — Full features, 6" screen
  • 7" cv / sv ($599-$1099) — Full features, 7" screen, GT20 or GT54 transducer
  • 9" sv models (this tier, $1199-$1399) — 9" higher-res screen, GT56UHD-TM transducer with three-frequency scanning
  • ECHOMAP Ultra 2 10"/12"/16" ($2099-$4799) — Brighter IPS displays, radar support, dual SD slots, full network helm

Why the 9" sv Over the 7" sv?

Three reasons:

  1. Bigger screen + higher resolution. 1024 × 600 on 9" vs 800 × 480 on 7" means noticeably more detail in charts, sonar, and split-screen views. If you run split-screen with SideVu + chart + sonar, the 9" makes everything actually readable.
  2. Better transducer (GT56UHD-TM). Adds a third scanning frequency (1000 kHz) on top of the 455 and 800 kHz that the GT54UHD uses on the 7" sv. Goes deeper on ClearVu (400 ft vs 200 ft) and SideVu (500 ft vs ~125 ft in high-res mode). Better for offshore anglers and deep lake structure.
  3. Standout at the helm. A 9" unit looks like a real helm install. Pairs well with larger boats where a 7" looks small at arm's length.

If you're primarily casting for bass on small-to-medium lakes, a 7" sv covers it. If you're offshore, running big water, or you just want the best ECHOMAP without jumping to Ultra 2, this is the one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between 93sv, 94sv, and 95sv?
Same hardware — model number indicates preloaded map region:

  • 93sv — U.S. Inland (LakeVu g3, 18,000+ lakes)
  • 94sv — U.S. Coastal + Great Lakes (BlueChart g3)
  • 95sv — Canada Inland + Coastal

What's the advantage of the GT56UHD-TM over the GT54UHD that ships with the 7" sv?
Three benefits:

  • Three-frequency scanning — 455 / 800 / 1000 kHz (GT54 is 455 and 1200 kHz only). 800 kHz is the sweet spot for most structure fishing.
  • Deeper ClearVu — 400 ft max vs GT54's ~200 ft. Real advantage on big lakes and offshore.
  • Deeper SideVu — 500 ft max vs GT54's ~125 ft in high-res mode. Big difference for big water.

The GT54 has a slight edge in very high-frequency detail (1200 kHz), but the GT56 covers more real-world fishing scenarios.

Does this support LiveScope?
Yes. Add a Panoptix LiveScope, LiveScope Plus, or LiveScope XR transducer + GLS 10 black box any time. The ECHOMAP UHD2 9" sv natively supports live sonar views.

Full NMEA 2000 support?
Yes — connect compatible autopilots, engine data (fuel flow, RPM, trim, temp), VHF radios, digital switching, Fusion audio, wind instruments, AIS, and more. All viewable on the 9" screen.

Can I share sonar/waypoints with my other Garmin unit?
Yes. Wi-Fi shares with other ECHOMAP UHD2 5"/7"/9" units. NMEA 2000 shares with networked equipment. SD card export works with any Garmin chartplotter. ActiveCaptain app manages waypoints, charts, and software updates.

Force trolling motor integration?
Yes — full wireless control of Garmin Force / Force Pro / Force Kraken. Create routes on the chartplotter and the motor auto-navigates. Full Spot Lock, Anchor Lock, Cruise Control from the 9" screen.

Radar?
No — for radar overlay, step up to ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or GPSMAP.

Is this good for ice fishing?
The open-water GT56UHD-TM isn't ideal for ice. Swap to a GT10HN-IF or Dual Beam-IF ice transducer, or check out the ECHOMAP UHD2 93sv LiveScope Ice Fishing Bundle (010-02688-30 / 010-02688-35) that includes a LiveScope LVS34-IF transducer, GLS 10 black box, rechargeable battery, and portable case.

How does it mount?
Includes tilt/swivel quick-release mount and flush mount kit. Quick release is handy if you trailer and want to remove the unit between trips for security.
