Where This Fits in the ECHOMAP UHD2 Series

The 7" tier is where most anglers land — it's the best balance of screen size, sonar capability, and price in the Garmin lineup. Both cv and sv 7" models get the full networking feature set (NMEA 2000, LiveScope compat, Force trolling motor integration) — the only difference between cv and sv is the transducer.

  • 5" cv models ($399-$499) — Keyed-only, no networking, no LiveScope. Budget tier.
  • 6" sv models ($849-$949) — Touchscreen, full features, 6" screen for smaller helms
  • 7" cv models ($599-$699) — Touchscreen, full features, CHIRP + ClearVu (no SideVu)
  • 7" sv models ($899-$1099) — Same as 7" cv but adds UHD SideVu for side imaging
  • 9" sv models ($1199-$1399) — Bigger screen version of 7" sv
  • ECHOMAP Ultra 2 10"/12"/16" ($2099-$4799) — Brighter IPS, radar support, even more premium

Should You Get the cv or sv?

The cv version (this product) includes CHIRP Traditional and CHIRP ClearVu — everything you need for clear bottom structure imaging and down-looking fish arches. The sv version adds UHD SideVu for side imaging up to 125 feet on each side of your boat.

Side imaging is a game-changer for finding laydowns, brush piles, rock piles, and cover you'd otherwise miss — especially on big water. If you already know you want to scan both sides of your boat, the sv upgrade is worth the ~$300 difference. If you primarily fish small lakes, creeks, or drop shot over structure you already know, the cv will cover 95% of scenarios.

Good news: Since both cv and sv have identical electronics and NMEA 2000 networking, you can start with cv and upgrade your transducer to a GT54UHD-TM or GT56UHD later if you decide you want SideVu.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between 72, 73, 74, and 75?
Same hardware — the number after the model family indicates preloaded map region:

  • 72 — Worldwide basemap (no detailed maps)
  • 73 — U.S. Inland (LakeVu g3, 18,000+ lakes)
  • 74 — U.S. Coastal + Great Lakes (BlueChart g3)
  • 75 — Canada + Alaska

Can I add SideVu later?
Yes. Because 7" cv and 7" sv share identical electronics, you can simply upgrade the transducer — replace your GT20-TM with a GT54UHD-TM or GT56UHD to add UHD SideVu. The chartplotter will automatically detect the new transducer's capabilities.

Does this support NMEA 2000?
Yes — full NMEA 2000 support. Connect compatible autopilots, engine data displays (fuel flow, RPM, trim, temp), VHF radios, digital switching, Fusion marine audio, wind instruments, and more. This is a major upgrade over the 5" cv which does NOT have NMEA 2000.

Is this LiveScope compatible?
Yes. Add a Panoptix LiveScope, LiveScope Plus, or LiveScope XR transducer + GLS 10 black box any time. The ECHOMAP UHD2 7" natively supports live sonar views.

How does the touchscreen + keyed-assist work?
Modern capacitive touchscreen for fast menu navigation, plus physical buttons that duplicate the same controls. Use touch when dry and convenient, fall back to buttons when your hands are wet, gloved, or the boat is rough. Best of both worlds.

Can I control my Force trolling motor from this screen?
Yes. Wirelessly pairs with Garmin Force / Force Pro / Force Kraken trolling motors. Create a route on the chartplotter, press Go, and the motor auto-navigates. Full Spot Lock, Anchor Lock, and Cruise Control functions are available from the screen.

Can I share data with another Garmin unit on my boat?
Yes — the 7" ECHOMAP UHD2 can share via three paths: Wi-Fi to other UHD2 units, NMEA 2000 backbone to networked equipment, or microSD card export for any Garmin device. You can also pair with the ActiveCaptain mobile app to manage waypoints and charts.

What's the warranty?
1-year limited manufacturer warranty from Garmin.

Is this good for ice fishing?
The open-water transducer included isn't ideal for ice. But you can use this same chartplotter as the display unit in an ice fishing setup — buy a GT10HN-IF or Dual Beam-IF ice transducer separately, or pick up the ECHOMAP UHD2 73sv Ice Fishing Bundle (010-02684-35) that includes an ice transducer, portable case, and rechargeable battery.

Does this support radar?
No — for radar support, step up to an ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or GPSMAP chartplotter.
