Garmin GPSMAP 1623/1643 16" Chartplotter (Non-Sonar)
SKU:
Description
🧭 A 16" glass helm for the boat that runs its sonar somewhere else on the network.
This is the big-screen non-sonar member of the GPSMAP X3 family — a 16" high-resolution IPS touchscreen with edge-to-edge glass, built for captains who want a commanding chartplotter display and already have sonar handled by a black box or a second combo unit. No internal sounder means you're not paying for a transducer port you'll never use; instead the unit pulls sonar, radar, and IP camera video off the Garmin Marine Network and lays it across all 16 inches. Dual SD slots handle chart upgrades, and full NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 and OneHelm support wire it into autopilot, engines, digital switching and more.

What's the difference between the 1623 and 1643? Maps. The 1623 ships with Worldwide Basemap; the 1643 ships with Garmin Navionics+ US/Canada coastal and inland charts. Same 16" non-sonar hardware otherwise.
How do I get sonar on this? Over the Garmin Marine Network from another unit or a sonar black box. If you want built-in sonar on a 16" screen, look at the 1643xsv instead.
Is it touchscreen? Yes — the 16" X3 units are touchscreen with edge-to-edge glass.
