Yoder Chaps

🦵 All six Yoder chap styles, one page — pick the protection that fits how you hunt. Every pair is handmade in the USA by Amish craftsmen, and they pull on right over your pants and zip up the side to shed briars, thorns, and thick brush. The difference between the styles comes down to the denier (fabric weight) and the material — and the heavier the denier, the more briar and abrasion protection you get. Here's how to choose.

How to pick your style

🟤 Lite N Rugged — the everyday all-arounder
Built on a 400 denier outer shell with a 300 denier water-resistant liner. Lightweight and easy to move in, it sheds everyday briars and brush without weighing you down — the go-to for most coon and rabbit hunters who want protection they'll actually wear all night. If you want one pair that does it all, start here.

🕸️ Mesh Back — warm-weather / early season
Same 400 denier briar-proof front as the Lite N Rugged, but with a breathable mesh back panel that dumps heat. Built for early-season and warm-weather hunts when full chaps get too hot. Same front-side briar protection, way more airflow.

🟡 Brush Buster — heavy brush & wet cover
Made from 420 denier heavy-coated "wick" nylon — a slicker, tougher coated fabric that sheds wet brush, thorns, and stickers better than standard nylon. Step up to this if you're pushing through nastier, wetter cover than the Lite N Rugged is built for.

⚫ Bad Dog — heavy-duty / hard use
Stepped up to a heavy-duty 840 denier outer shell with a 300 denier liner. More than twice the fabric weight of the Lite N Rugged, so it takes serious abuse from thick timber, fences, and rough country. For the hunter who's hard on gear and wants it to last seasons.

🍂 Mossy Oak Bottomland — concealment + protection
500 denier heavy-coated Cordura® in full Mossy Oak Bottomland camo. You get tough, abrasion-resistant briar protection AND concealment in the timber — the pick for hunters who want to stay hidden while they push cover.

🐍 Snake Protector — maximum protection
The heaviest build we make: two full layers of 1000 denier Cordura®. That's the most briar and abrasion protection in the lineup, and the double-layer Cordura adds a real barrier against snake strikes in rough, snake-prone country. When you want the toughest chap Yoder builds, this is it.

📏 Sizing Chart & How to Measure

Chaps wear right over your pants, so measure your leg, not your pants size. Pick a Thigh Size and an Inseam below.

Thigh Size — measure around the thickest part of your thigh, then add 2–3 inches for comfort (we recommend adding the full 3" so you've got room to move and layer):

Inseam — take your usual jeans inseam and subtract 2–3 inches (chaps ride higher and sit over your boots). Available inseams:

🤔 Which size should I get?

Here's the quick, real-world guidance our customers use:

• 👖 Go by your build, not your pant tag. A 32" jeans waist doesn't mean a 32" thigh — measure the thickest part of your thigh and match it to the chart above.
• ⬆️ When in doubt, size UP on the thigh. Chaps go over your pants (and often over insulated pants in cold weather), so a little extra room is better than a pinch. Too tight is the #1 fit complaint — too roomy is easy to live with.
• 📐 Inseam runs shorter than jeans. Chaps sit up high and stop over your boots, so subtract 2–3" from your normal jeans inseam. Between two inseams? Go with the shorter one so they don't bunch at the boot.
• 🧥 Layer for the season. If you'll wear these over heavy or insulated pants for winter runs, bump the thigh size up one.
• 🦵 Big legs / muscular thighs: definitely round up on the thigh — these are cut for real hunters, but athletic legs fill them fast.

Common picks: Most average‑build hunters land around M–L thigh with a 30" inseam. Taller or heavier hunters trend XL–2XL thigh with a 30–32" inseam. Still not sure? Give us your thigh measurement + height and we'll pick it for you.
