Garmin LiveScope 2 Compatibility Chart
Garmin LiveScope 2 Compatibility Chart
Verified against Garmin published compatibility data. Updated July 9, 2026. Carolina Sportsman Outfitters, Garmin dealer since 2015.
How it connects. LiveScope 2 has no black box. The transducer needs a network port on your display: a Garmin Marine Network port, using the GMN1 adapter included in the box, or a BlueNet port on the GPSMAP 9000 series, which connects directly.
The catch. Having the port is not enough. Garmin also has to enable LiveScope 2 on that display. Some units with working ports that run LiveScope Plus will not run LiveScope 2.
Works with LiveScope 2
LiveScope 2 transducer (LVS44 or LVS42HD) sold separately.

Has a network port, but will not run LiveScope 2
All of these have a working Garmin Marine Network port and ran LiveScope Plus through it. They still run LiveScope Plus and LiveScope XR.

It is not because your unit is old. The GPSMAP 8610xsv shipped in early 2019 and runs LiveScope 2. The ECHOMAP UHD 93sv shipped in late 2019 and does not. The older display is the supported one.
The same split happens inside one product family. Within the GPSMAP 8400 and 8600 badge, the 2016 large-format units are excluded while the 2019 small-format units are supported. Same series name, opposite answer.
What separates them is the internal hardware platform, not the model year, the screen size, the resolution, or the port. LiveScope 2 sends far more detail to the screen than the older systems, and the display has to draw it fast enough to stay real time. Whether these older platforms could keep up is a question only Garmin can answer, and Garmin has not published an answer.
Cannot run any version of LiveScope
No network port. Permanent. No adapter or update will change it.

Questions
Does LiveScope 2 need a black box?
No. The sonar processing is built into the transducer. The GLS 10 black box is retired.
What does LiveScope 2 need to connect?
A network port on the display. Either a Garmin Marine Network port, using the GMN1 adapter included in the box, or a BlueNet port on the GPSMAP 9000 series, which connects directly.
My chartplotter has a Garmin Marine Network port. Will LiveScope 2 work?
Not always. The port is required but it is not enough. Garmin also has to enable LiveScope 2 on that display. Units like the GPSMAP 1042xsv and the ECHOMAP UHD gen 1 have working ports, run LiveScope Plus, and still will not run LiveScope 2.
Is it because my unit is old?
No. The GPSMAP 8610xsv shipped in early 2019 and runs LiveScope 2. The ECHOMAP UHD 93sv shipped in late 2019 and does not. The older display is the supported one. What separates them is the internal hardware platform, not the model year.
Could a Garmin update make my unit compatible?
Only Garmin can. LiveScope support lives inside the chartplotter's own software, so it would take a firmware update written for that exact display. No adapter, cable, hub, or aftermarket product can add it. Garmin has not said whether they will.
Should I buy a LiveScope 2 transducer and wait for an update?
No. Buy on what works today. If you own an unsupported display and want LiveScope 2, plan on a compatible display. Your current unit still runs LiveScope Plus and LiveScope XR.
Will LiveScope 2 work with a STRIKER?
No. No STRIKER model has a network port, so it cannot run any version of LiveScope.
Why is my ECHOMAP ClearVu model not compatible?
ECHOMAP UHD2 cv models have no network port and use an 8-pin transducer connector instead of the 12-pin found on sv units. No adapter or update will change this.
What is the difference between the LVS44 and the LVS42HD?
The LVS44 reaches to 250 feet with up to 20 percent more resolution and 25 percent more range. The LVS42HD gives up to 50 percent more detail at close range, out to 125 feet.
